New Leadership
In a significant move, four-time Olympic medalist Anthony Ervin joined the team foundation's new President and Executive Director, bringing his wealth of experience and passion for swimming to the helm.
New Board Members
The Stand By Me Foundation kicked off the year with exciting new additions to its board. Fleur Sohtz, a native New Yorker and ultra-marathon swimmer with a longstanding career in global marketing, joined the board. Christopher Harris, a former Columbia University swimmer and current investment banker with over 20 years of experience in financial services, also became a board member.
Fundraising Event at the New York Athletic Club
The foundation hosted its first fundraiser event of the year at the prestigious New York Athletic Club. The event was successful, with swimmers coming together to support the cause. Anthony Ervin delivered a fantastic speech, and the Columbia Men's Swimming & Diving team showed their support in full force, highlighting the growing community backing the foundation.
Olympic Fever and Trivia Night
With Olympic fever running high, the foundation hosted a trivia night in New York City, featuring guest star our President, Anthony Ervin, OLY. The event offered epic prizes and Olympic-themed questions, and each ticket sold contributed to supporting our programs. The event was a strong showing of support as excitement builds for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Congratulations to our winners.
Team Elite Success
The quarter ended on a high note with a phenomenal performance by Team Elite at the NCAA D1 Swimming and Diving Championships. Destin Lasco, a New Jersey native, made headlines by breaking two American, one NCAA, and four school records for the University of California, Berkeley, showcasing the talent and dedication within the foundation's community.
