Stand By Me Foundation Teams Up with URBANSWIM for Manhattan Ultra Marathon Relay

Updated: May 7

The Stand By Me Foundation is proud to partner with URBANSWIM for an exciting relay swim around Manhattan on June 8, 2024. Six U.S. Masters Swimmers living in New York will participate in the challenging 28.5-mile route to promote inclusivity in swimming.

Stand By Me Foundation is dedicated to ensuring that swimming is accessible to everyone, from beginners to aspiring Olympians. This collaboration with URBANSWIM aims to highlight the importance of clean urban waters and the joy of open-water swimming, all while raising crucial funds to support our mission.

A Team with a Mission

The relay team—Andrea Amato, Carrie Hillebrand, Colleen Stranzl, Danielle Honrath, Fleur Sohtz, and Nate Freeman—is comprised of athletes and ambassadors for our cause.

"We are grateful for the support of URBANSWIM and this incredible relay team," said David Marsh, Founder of Team Elite and a member of the Stand By Me Foundation Board. "Their dedication to our athletes and the Stand By Me Foundation is truly inspiring."

Goals Beyond the Finish Line

The team has set an ambitious fundraising goal of $20,000 to support our programs, including:

  • Making Swimming Accessible: Funds raised will support swim scholarships, clinics, and efforts to promote diversity and inclusivity within the swimming community.

  • Empowering Athletes: Supporting this event means supporting swimmers at all levels and encouraging them on their journey from local pools to Olympic podiums.

  • Impacting Communities: Every donation directly contributes to increasing swimming access and safety, ensuring more individuals can enjoy and benefit from the sport.

Join the Wave of Support
