Stand By Me Foundation Welcomes Trevor Freeman to Board as It Expands Aquatics Access in New York City

Updated: 1 day ago

New York, NY (November 25, 2024) — The Stand By Me Foundation is thrilled to announce Trevor Freeman's appointment to its Board of Directors. A native of Northern California, Freeman moved to New York City to pursue his passion for water polo at Fordham University, fostering a lifelong connection to the aquatics community. Today, he is an active master's swimmer at Asphalt Green and a dedicated father to his daughter, Aria, who competes on the same team. Trevor frequently volunteers as a timer and safety marshal at meets, underscoring his commitment to the sport.

Freeman brings over 25 years of financial services experience to the Stand By Me Foundation. He currently leads the Fund Finance team at Axos Bank, a full-service digital bank. Previously, he was a founding member of the Fund Banking Business at Signature Bank, which he helped grow to over $55 billion in loan commitments. Additionally, his extensive industry involvement includes roles on multiple committees for the Association for Corporate Growth (New York Chapter) and the Fund Finance Association, where he contributed to multiple initiatives, including membership outreach.

Freeman’s commitment to giving back extends to Fordham University, where he has served as a mentor through the Fordham Mentoring Program and on the Young Alumni Committee. Together with his family, he has supported programs like the Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) and the Founder’s Scholarship for students.

This appointment follows the naming of three-time Olympian Anthony Ervin as President of the Stand By Me Foundation.

The Foundation has also expanded its ambassador program to include elite athletes such as:

●      Jack Alexy, U.S. National Team swimmer, Olympic gold and silver medalist

●      Dare Rose, U.S. National Team swimmer and World Champion

●      Claire Weinstein, U.S. National Team swimmer, Olympic silver medalist

●      Tomer Frankel, Israeli National Team swimmer and Olympian

Last month, the Foundation partnered with Asphalt Green to open a new swim facility at River East in East Harlem. The facility offers after-school aquatics programming that helps young athletes transition to competitive swimming through the Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics (AGUA) Swim Team. This initiative, supported by the Stand By Me Foundation, advances the Foundation’s mission to ensure every child has an opportunity to thrive in aquatics.

"Trevor’s blend of business acumen, financial expertise, and passion for aquatics will be invaluable to our organization,” said Anthony Ervin, President of the Stand By Me Foundation. “His dedication to supporting young athletes embodies our mission to expand access and inspire future generations.”

"Being part of the aquatics world as an athlete and now as a parent has been incredibly rewarding,” Freeman shared. “Joining the Stand By Me Foundation board allows me to give back to a sport that has shaped my life. I look forward to leveraging my professional experience to grow the Foundation and create opportunities for kids to thrive in the water and beyond.”

With Freeman’s leadership and the guidance of world-class athletes, the Stand By Me Foundation is poised to create new pathways for youth to explore competitive and recreational aquatics.
